The chapel was established in the 1900s, affiliated to St. Apostles Peter and Paul church (Novgorod). It was transformed into a parish church around 1919 but was closed in 1931. It is officially closed in June, 1934. The premises were handed to a pioneer club.
A stone church was built in 1891 - 1893 by Father Pietrowski after a fire in a wooden chapel. It is consecrated on 09/08/1893 by Francis Simon, Bishop of Mogilyov. A charitable society was founded at the church in 1904 and a the children's shelter was founded in 1907. A cemetery chapel was affiliated to it. The church was closed on 03/05/1933. The building was handed over to the society of motorists, it remained intact during the Great Patriotic War. At the end of the 1940s it was reconstructed for the cinema «Rodina», and was handed over to the regional management of culture. In May, 1993, the Catholic parish of Novgorod was revived and one room on the second floor was returned to it. On 02/12/1995, Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz consecrated a chapel in one of the premises of the church.
